Leaders play an important role in any transformation programmes. The ability to effectively lead teams to transform an organisation and achieve goals comes significantly from the mastery of a specific set of skills involving communicating the direction, managing teams and energising people.

To strengthen the leadership skills of the SMARTER Leaders (Light) cohort, SMARTER@HKU organised a 2-day Accelerate the Change Workshop.  Through briefings, discussion and interesting activities, participants developed their skills in leading change, coaching, giving and receiving feedback, building trust and managing conflicts.

The highlight of the Workshop went to a group session when participants identified their own trust scales among reliability, acceptance, congruence and openness. The session was well received.

“I understood more about my leadership style and I need to work on being more open-minded. This awareness will benefit me a lot when I lead my team to drive transformation for the SMARTER@HKU programme,” said one of the participants.

Following the Workshop, learning labs will be organised in September for the SMARTER Leaders (Light) to further sharpen their coaching skills.
